Message from Mr Marsden

Once again, I wish to thank the staff for everything they do.  It is a privilege to work with people, irrespective of their role in school, who work so hard and skilfully in order to positively influence our children, both socially and academically.   Indeed, all decisions we make are motivated by the desire for all children to be both happy and successful, and this will remain our motivation.

While the children break for summer, work at the school is on-going.   The old ‘small hall’ which housed the Early Bird and After School Clubs is being transformed into three new offices – Headteacher, Deputy Headteacher and Business Manager – and what was the head teacher’s room will become an extension to the main school office.  In addition, there will be a larger meeting room and a smaller room for 1:1/small group intervention.   Mrs. Radford will move into Mrs. Mathie’s current room, providing her with much needed additional space!

In addition to the new building, some areas across the school are being refreshed ready for the new academic year.

Huge thanks and appreciation goes to the people who are ‘moving on’ at the end of this school year.  Firstly, Sarah Cliffe is relocating and has also been offered a promotion opportunity.  Sarah has been with us for over 10 years and has become an excellent teacher and capable leader.

Also, Judith Cooper, who has led writing and maths groups in year 6, is retiring and we thank her for her significant input.  Teaching assistants Jo Mugglestone, Andrew Roberts are also leaving us this summer; each one of them has been a real asset to our school and we wish them all the very best for the future.

Finally, we wish all our Year 6 leavers well as they move on to their respective high schools. They have been a credit to our school and we wish them, and their families, the very best for the future.

On behalf of everyone at school, I would like to wish you and your families a thoroughly enjoyable summer and we look forward to seeing the children safely back on Thursday 29th August ready for the new school year!

Best wishes

Mr Marsden
