Headteacher's Message

As ever, our children should be congratulated for their attitude to learning. Following a recent external school review (conducted by a local inspector, two local head teachers and deputy head teacher) the team reported that,
  • ’ Behaviour is outstanding throughout the school’.
  • ‘Classrooms are extremely calm, purposeful places of learning. Pupils settle quickly to work, listen carefully and respond well during class discussions’.
  • ‘There are very good relationships between staff and pupils and this is built on a foundation of high expectations and mutual respect’.
  • ‘There is a calm approach to learning across the school which helps the pupils concentrate on their learning’.
  • ‘Pupils demonstrate a high level of interest in their learning. They are engaged and follow teachers’ instructions exceptionally well; this helps their learning and progress’.
It is always both pleasing and reassuring when other professionals comment so positively about our school and its ethos. So thanks to all staff, parents and, of course, the children!
Huge thanks and appreciation goes to the people who are ‘moving on’ at the end of this school year. Various staff members are leaving us to take on a new challenge in their respective careers - Class teachers: Mrs Day, Mrs Hamer-Hodges, Mr Bailey, Teaching assistants: Mrs Hurst, Miss Jones, Mrs Collyer, Miss Malyon and Mrs Chippendale, and premises officers: Mr Grainger and Mr White. Each and every member of staff listed above has been a real asset to our school and we wish them all the very best for the future.

Once again, I would like to acknowledge the work of our PTFA.  Not only have those involved freely given of their time, effort and energy to organise events throughout the year, they have also raised a significant amount of money in order to continue to enhance provision and benefit all children throughout the school.

Finally, best wishes to all our Year 6 leavers. You have been a credit to our school and we wish you the very best for the future.

On behalf of everyone at school, I would like to wish you and your families a thoroughly enjoyable summer and we look forward to seeing the children safely back on Tuesday 29th August ready for the new school year!
