Latest Update

Dear Parents/Carers,

We hope that you are well. As we approach the end of what has been the most difficult and unusual academic year we have known, we wish to thank you once again for all your support, encouragement and flexibility.

Currently, we have around 220 children in school (Reception, Year 1, Year 6 and Key Worker children).  In order to ensure low ‘Bubble’ numbers we are using all teaching staff and all areas of the school to facilitate this partial reopening.  Unfortunately, this does mean, however, that for the remainder of the academic year no further year groups will be able to return unless there is a significant change in the Government guidelines.

There are, as has been the case since the end of March, still many unanswered questions regarding fully returning to school, ‘catch-up’ programmes and organisation of the 20-21 academic year.  In the meantime, we can provide an update on the following:

End of year reports:

These will be posted on Thursday 25th June to those families whose children are not in school.  As ever please read the letter which accompanies the report.

Home learning and Class email:

Home learning will continue to be sent until the end of the term, Friday 10th July. We are waiting for further clarification and guidance from the Government relating to ‘Catch up plans’ and wider reopening.

Remember also, that you can now email your child’s class teacher with examples of the work/activities your child has been involved in.  Staff have really enjoyed and appreciated seeing the children’s work.

Classes for next academic year (2020/2021):

Please find information regarding next year’s classes attached to this email.

Safeguarding:

Please remember, that even though many children are not attending school, we have a Safeguarding Team who are on hand should you have any concerns about the well-being of a child (Mr Marsden, Mrs Mathie, Mrs Radford, Mrs Jastrzebski and Mrs Mason who is at Little Battlers).

Library and Reading Book returns:

For those children who are in school, please bring any school books into your bubble classroom.

For children not attending school we would be grateful if you were able to return home reading books and library books before the end of term. In order to manage this safely and to facilitate social distancing, each Year Group has been allocated a day during which they can return any school books.  ‘Returns boxes’ will be clearly visible and positioned just inside the gates on Frederick Avenue, on the following  days between the hours of 10am and 2pm.

Tuesday 23rd June  or Wednesday 24th June Reception, Year 1 and Year 6

Thursday 25th June Year 2

Friday 26th June Year 3

Monday 29th June Year 4

Tuesday 30th June Year 5

To help return books to the correct areas, please label the book with your child’s name either on a post-it note or piece of paper inside the book.

We hope that you have found this information useful and we will be back in touch before the end of term with further updates.

Best wishes and kind regards

Mr Marsden and Mrs Mathie
